Not only that this is Rybakina’s first title as the World No. 1, this is also the first time she successfully defended a championship.

In fact the only finals she has lost since AO 2023 have been masters finals. She's 7/7 in 500s, 2/2 in grand slams, 1/1 in WTA finals but only 2/7 in masters finals since then

like I said the WTA 1000s record of Elena is not bad. just almost every-time she loses in the finals of a WTA 1000s for some reason that eludes me.

Rybakina too good for Fernandez today, never let her into the match at all. Great to see her win her first title as #1 in only her second tournament (especially after what happened in Beijing).
This is also the first time she’s defended a title in her career
