Six ATP titles, four major QFs, 2017 Nitto ATP Finals runner-up, nine Challenger titles and a career high of No. 7. Thanks for everything, David!

Carlos can breathe a sigh of relief

I’ve always wondered why there’s no film of the first time they played, at the 2021 Great Ocean Road Open in Melbourne. It was Alcaraz’s biggest win of his career at that point, Goffin was #14 in the world.

Because Goffin is not relevant to tennis history or anything like that

Still has BabyFed,

True, but he lost to another Belgian recently.

Tomas Berdych you mean

He really deserves that 2017 title man, he beat both Rafa and Roger only to lose to Dimitrov
And Dimitrov had already won a masters that year so I was really hoping Goffin got his big title
Grigor ended up winning the 2017 ATP Finals beating Goffin x2, Carreno Busta, Sock and Thiem

Goffin and Grigor had a lot of battles on the court and played really entertaining matches + they both show great sportsmanship towards their opponents. Another thing they have in common are the injuries they had :/ Anyway, Goffin will be missed on court and congrats on his successful career :)

The ultimate embodiment of maximizing your capabilities despite the obvious physical limitations that he has.
At his peak he was so fun to watch. Bonne retraite David!

If he didnt get that freak injury, felt he could have achieved even more. Surely top-5 ranking in this current era.

Reaching 7th is already an enormous achievement, best tennisman of our history here in Belgium

His level in late 2017 was unreal.

David who?

You clearly aren't really a tennis fan if you don't know who Goffin is...

Let's not be arrogant. Oh, whoops forgot where I was for a minute.
TBF to the poster above he's had a beyond streaky career and hasn't had a run in ages. I have nothing against him but it's not like he's been a prominent player over the past 8 yrs or more. (His highest ranking was in '17.)
Hope he's happy in retirement. Will never forget the first time he played RFed as a prof. player and how he was staring at Roger like RF was a god at net after he was beaten. Wide-eyed and in awe. Said something like 'you're best player ever.' So cute.

It's nice that he got a win in front of his home crowd in his last tournament

I'm so happy I was there to witness it! Such a happy yet strong atmosphere
