JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- "They just came through here," said an excited Rusty Fields. Fields not only mans the front gate at Campbell County High School, he's also the head tennis coach for the Cougars and Lady Cougars. The "they" he mentioned are the folks with Baseline who arrived on campus Monday morning to begin construction on the first-ever on campus tennis courts for the CCHS Tennis program.

On Monday morning, Ronnie Trent with Baseline out of Knoxville checked the grade of the field with the bulldozer arriving a while later. "We're gonna build six tennis courts, and they'll run this way," said Trent as he pointed north and south.

The new courts will be located on what was once the football and band practice field on the south side of campus.

"They're telling me it'll just be a few weeks before they're finished. I sure hope so, because we'll make our schedule out around the first of December, and I'm hoping to schedule us some home matches. That'd be a first," said Fields.

Trent plans to break ground, make all the cuts on Tuesday. "I'll program all those cuts in the computer on the dozer, and it'll do all the work," said Trent.

The Cougars won both the regular season and district tournament championships in 2026.
