2012 was the greatest year in tennis history.
Australian open: Djokovic French open: Nadal Wimbledon: Federer US open: Murray
Olympics: Murray Atp finals: Djokovic

All against each other too.

The only year where the SFs were Big 4 only.

Not entirely correct. RG had Ferrer, Wimbledon had Tsonga & US Open had Berdych and Ferrer in SFs.

Yeah you're right, not sure why I got fixated on that, I think I had AO 2012 in mind. The closest was actually 2011 with 14 out of 16 SF spots.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Australia did have all 4 that year, but that was something that had happened before.

Yh 100%. The big 4 were all in their primes pretty much that season. No one was a standout as well, which made the slams quite unpredictable. Amazing season.

I think I agree with you but I also want to shout out 2009 which I’d argue had better matches between big four and non-big four players.

😂😂😂Murray, shut up man

He was the zverev of the era. Vastly superior to the rest of the field

You can't call him that when Zverev is largely incapable of beating the top two current players in the world. Murray was one point away from four victories over Djokovic in 2012 and beat Fed in the Olympic final.

Zverev beat Djokovic in the Olympic semifinal, Atp finals final, masters final.

Dear God do not pretend like Zed faced the same versions of those players that Andy did.
16. u/Trick_Support_3345 · 2026-10-31 14:38 UTC
Agree. But 2017 Federer was 4–0 vs Nadal. Zverev beat him in Canada.
Zverev was also very young back then.

Zverev beat him in Canada.
Did you even watch that match?

Zverev did worse against an older Djokovic post injury than a younger Djokovic. That indicates its not the quality of the opponent that changed as much as he did
19. u/MeatTornado25 · 2026-10-31 15:16 UTC
Right. Because he got a handful of wins against 30-33 year old Djokovic that obviously means he would've done better than Murray did against mid-20s peak Big 3.
C'mon man
