Not only did he defeat Zverev for the first time outside a team competition, but he also defeated Zverev in a tiebreak. Wonderful reset in the third set

Maybe that tight Laver Cup win actually was consequential for him. Its been a brutal year for him, but maybe that really did give him some renewed confidence.

He has definitely looked a lot better since that win in Laver cup so it did help his confidence

He needs to teach Fritz how to get a boost from Laver Cup form lol
Fritz plays out of his mind in Laver Cup then can't carry it over at all the moment it ends

Sort of a reset. That second double fault looked as rubber arm as anything I have seen this year.

Is rubber arm the equivalent of a heavy feeling cement arm?

That too.

Yesterday I said it was gonna be a tough game for Zverev and got downvoted so hard lol. Good thing to trust yourself and not the mob

It was the same when people were saying it would be so embarrassing for novak if he lost the beijing final to demon after beating meddy and zverev. Obviously demon is a step below the little 3 but he's been top 10 for years, people talk about him like he's some rando

Also Zverev isn’t the unbeatable god his fans make him out to be. If he can lose to Tommy Paul and Foki, he can lose to Demon. The H2H for Demon vs Zverev wasn’t like his H2Hs against Sincaraz.

Idk how they can even say that - he has 17 losses in 2026

As a Carlos fan, I want to be free from the “Zverev can beat Alcaraz on a good day” claims all because he used to do it back in early 2024 when he has an actual ceiling. This level was not going to cut it in the final against Carlos.

I said it in another comment but I think the reason De Minaur has such a relatively low reputation is because he never seems to peak in big events (1000s and Slams)
He always seems to play at his absolute best at times like 500s and team events which is fair but it contributes to why people don't remember his best moments as much

The disrespect for poor ADM in these comments, geez
16. u/glossedrock · 2026-10-31 19:31 UTC
A lot of tennis fans don’t respect players who don’t have a shot (mainly serve/fh) that is a weapon, and whose main strengths are speed /agility. There are “power players” who don’t have a ceiling anywhere near as high as ADM so they can STFU

Damn 33 downvotes lol

This man is not who they think he is

I got downvoted yesterday for saying Zverev keeps ducking Alcaraz in these tourneys so that H2H is misleading and lo and behold

u/realtennisguy and u/buttercheeseSuace in shambles lol
