musetti died for this

A theme of 2026 has been how consistently Zverev's trickier matchups lose before they meet him lol
It's why I both understand talk of Zverev being fortunate and completely reject the talk of other players being unfortunate because they absolutely had their chances they're just not good enough
He hasn't benefitted from "lucky draws" he's benefitted from the field all having much lower floors

2026 Zverev ain't losing to current Musetti Id be very surprised if he did. That period where he was losing to Musetti is when Musetti was in the best form of his career
Its going to be like the Cerundolo matchup from now if they play where they had a matchup advantage but Zverev quickly realised what he needs to do against them

It's not a Slam nor Masters so it's more possible than usual. But we won't know.

I don’t really think Musetti is a tricky matchup for Zverev outside of clay
6. u/cyborg574 · 2026-10-30 17:57 UTC
he defeated him in vienna

Once doesn’t mean its a good matchup consistently. Zverev also lost to Learner Tien once
Musetti doesn’t have enough tactical advantages to trouble Zverev consistently on faster surfaces
This sub seems to have some theory that anyone who has ever beaten Zverev once before is a “bad matchup” for him like top players genuinely lose matches here and there lol it’s really not that deep. Sure you could make an argument about Sinner and Medvedev but this sub was convincing itself last year that Cerúndolo was somehow Zverev’s daddy based off of a strong sample size of 2 matches and Zverev absolutely crushed him every time they met this year

May be Zverev wanted to finish before Paris draw is announced.

It’s the oddest thing about pro tennis in 2026, almost everyone in the top 100 can’t hit a top 10 level on any given day. The only thing that separates 4 through 10 from 10 through 100 is their floor. In theory that should be a good thing because the average first round match is much more entertaining than before, but in actuality it fucking sucks because we rarely get high ranked matchups outside of the top 4 playing each other.

59-minute match for the World No. 1. He gave up 6 points on his serve in the entire match.

Let's see him do that against someone actually good tomorrow

lol if it’s ADM it’s gonna be a straights sets win . Or do you want to move the goalposts after that win as well ?
14. u/SadPlumx · 2026-10-30 18:05 UTC
It's not gonna be 6-0 6-2. ADM has beaten zverev before anyways. Now, can he beat Alcaraz or Medvedev in the final? Probably not
15. u/realtennisguy · 2026-10-30 18:09 UTC
Completely agree. ADM will go all in and will lose 6-1 6-2. Much better.

There’s no way you think Medvedev is a tougher matchup for him at this point in time than Zverev
17. u/SadPlumx · 2026-10-30 18:16 UTC
No... I meant to say Zverev vs Medvedev will be tough lol. Ig I worded it poorly
18. u/buttercheeseSuace · 2026-10-30 18:11 UTC
Zverev has only lost to ADM at team events . He’s going to 2:0 him with ease .

Disrespectful 😭

The top 3 seeds into the semi finals. The tournament organisers will be happy with that.
