There are slowly fewer and fewer ties remaining to the 2010s era of tennis

Guys like Del Potro Tsonga Berdych and Ferrer are long gone Federer Nadal and Murray obviously are too and even a bunch of the big early 90s gen guys had tons of injuries and retired (Thiem/Raonic etc.)

This year Nishikori Monfils and now Stan are out and due to the spotty longevity of Lost Gen we're only a couple years away from the point where Medvedev is somehow the oldest big name on tour

I’ll never forget waking up with the TV on the Aussie Open in 2013 and being absolutely shocked Stan was taking Novak to the edge in a 5th set. That was Novak when he was basically unbeatable. Then him following up with the win in 2014 against him was so clutch. Absolute giant killer.

I remember that match and always like Stan beforehand, but yeah I watched it expecting a kerb stomping. Was shocked at the end of the first set, and again in the fourth after losing the next 2 was expecting Stan to just fade away like so many players in that position have
